Description

This began life as a digitally maipulated photo ofmyself in robotic makeup. I then printed off one in colour and one in black and white, my printer cartridges were running out but this gave an interesting effect. I then ripped up and cut up the faces, collaging them back down, i used sellotape on top of it to make it look more like an inventors doodle, that had been chopped and changed, like a work in progress. I then applied black ink to it, splattering, applying with brushed, driopping, blowing and running it. i like the effect on the sellotape where the ink resisted, and as the paper was straong enough i was able to remove some of the sellotape aswell. I then stitched into it, not that you can really see from this small picture , and i attatched mechanisms from an old cd player to it where the shapes of the components matched the shape of the face (eg, the iris of the eye). I then photographed the piece liek I have done with other work previously, inspired particularly by the work of Mari Mahr. i then opened the jpeg in paintshop and changed the brightness and contrats to make the image more artificial.
